NAVER LABS’ digital twin technology is also used in NAVER Real Estate service, where many people get property information. Digital twin technology, which enables the exact replication of real-world spaces, can make the service experience much more vivid.
The first example of a digital twin application to be introduced is the ‘VR Apartment Tour Service’. By using a 3D digital twin that exactly replicates an actual apartment complex, users can view the entire complex like a bird. Data including all facilities within the apartment complex, precise heights and textures of buildings, and even sunlight exposure, is represented and linked with actual property information.
Converting an entire complex into the 3D Model
The 3D model of the apartment complex in NAVER Real Estate’s VR tour was created using the “ALIKE” solution.
ALIKE is a digital twin creation solution designed for everything from buildings to entire cities. It applies AI technology to data obtained from drones, aerial photos, and various mapping devices, enabling massive spaces, including entire cities, to be transferred to the cloud.
Through the ALIKE solution, NAVER LABS is carrying out digital twin projects for Seoul and major cities in Saudi Arabia. The 3D models used in the real estate service platform were also replicated using this solution.
Key Characteristics of the VR Apartment Tour Service
High-Resolution Drone Mapping: Large-scale, high-resolution 2D images captured by drones from the sky are restored using AI, providing accurate and realistic 3D models.
3D Spatial Information: Instead of simply splicing together 2D image data, 3D spatial information such as building heights, terrains, and locations is precisely collected and provided. This ensures that information on NAVER Real Estate is accurately augmented to match the ground and building heights.
Cloud Processing: Large-scale 3D data is processed quickly and stably through the NAVER CLOUD Platform. This allows for the expansion of various cloud-based services.
The VR Apartment Tour Service with digital twin technologies will offer users a fresh and diverse experience. Currently, the VR Apartment Tour Service has been pilot-tested on five large-scale complexes in NAVER Real Estate, with plans to include information on more complexes in the future.
