SeRo is a robot developed to safely and efficiently manage servers, the key assets in a data center’s IT warehouse.
Loading assets and recording data
The key assets of a data center are the servers. While most of them are active in the server room, idle and new assets are stored in the IT warehouse. Focusing mainly on this IT warehouse, SeRo automates the inbound and outbound management of the data center’s assets. In addition to being able to self-load servers, it automatically detects a server’s asset number and records the server operation history. The lifecycle records of these assets become an important resource for maximizing data center operational efficiency.
Super big, but super precise
The first impression of SeRo, as you can see, is its massive height. The reason SeRo was designed to be vertically long (as in its namesake), is to be able to store assets up to 3 meters high, maximizing asset capacity per area.
Despite SeRo’s towering stature, it's all about ultra-precision when it comes to receiving or loading assets. Assets are accurately picked and safely stored with precision control and vision technology that overcomes errors as small as 2 millimeters to ensure optimal warehouse capacity.
Versatile collaboration
SeRo also collaborates with GaRo, the autonomous transportation robot. SeRo loads GaRo with assets from the warehouse, and vice versa, GaRo receives assets from the server room. No human intervention is required here — the entire exchange happens seamlessly between the two robots.
Can SeRo also collaborate with humans? Of course. We've created an interface that allows safe collaboration between the separated work zones to allow the system to adapt flexibly to changes in tasks. The interface is called ROBOSTATION, a human-robot collaboration desk. With SeRo and the ROBOSTATION, workers can quickly move assets in and out of the warehouse.
